The Department of Hospital Therapy provides training for future physicians studying at the 'General Medicine' and 'Dentistry' educational programmes. The forms of instruction include lectures, practical classes, seminars, clinical case studies, and supervision of graduation theses.

The Department established the 'St Petersburg Union of Physicians' remote continuous postgraduate medical education platform. This online platform hosts daily educational activities involving the department’s faculty and leading medical experts from St Petersburg. - Subjectively non-manifested forms of disease progression in cardiology (asymptomatic and pauci-symptomatic forms of coronary artery disease, hypertension, chronic heart failure, etc.);
- Development and study of novel diagnostic and treatment methods for coronary artery disease, arterial hypertension, and chronic heart failure;
- Energy metabolism aspects in chronic heart failure;
- Development and exploration of cellular technologies for treating incurable or treatment-resistant cardiovascular diseases;
- Genetic multifactorial processes in cardiovascular diseases;
- Dysmetabolic processes in the cardiovascular system during myocardial dystrophies of various origins.
