Following the establishment of the Faculty of Dentistry and Medical Technologies in 2010, the Department of Dentistry was founded, headed by Professor Vladimir Trezubov, Honoured Scientist of Russia.
Acting Rector of St Petersburg University I. Dementyev established the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry through its separation from the Department of Dentistry by Order No. 303/1 of 5 February 2014, appointing Professor V. Trezubov as its head.

Dental rehabilitation with regards to the integration of the masticatory apparatus functions and other body systems. Problems of dental materials intolerance.
Among research areas of the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry are rehabilitation of dental patients with a focus on the integration of the masticatory system and other physiological systems of the body and problems of intolerance to dental materials.
