Specialist’s programmeThe department teaches third-, fourth- and fifth-year students the theoretical principles and practical techniques of therapeutic dentistry. Teaching is aimed at developing in students medical reasoning and professional conduct, equipping them with the skills required for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the dental hard tissues, pulp, periodontium and oral mucosa.

The department provides training within the clinical residency programme in the main field of study 31.08.73 'Therapeutic Dentistry', as well as within the doctoral programme in the main field of study 3.1.7 'Dental Medicine'. Training is available on both government-funded and fee-paying bases.
The clinical residency programme 'Therapeutic Dentistry' is designed to: deepen fundamental medical knowledge; improve professional qualifications; and develop the medical judgement of a dental therapist. Graduates of the programme are specialists who are knowledgeable about normal variants and the pathology of the human maxillofacial area. They are able to successfully apply advanced methods of preventing dental diseases, based on fundamental knowledge of pathogenesis, and carry out therapeutic and diagnostic activities. They will be able to take rehabilitation measures to preserve the life and health of patients using modern methods, digital technologies, and cutting-edge scientific advances in therapeutic dentistry. Clinical residency training lasts two years. Upon completion, clinical residency students undertake a state final assessment and the primary specialised accreditation.

The programme develops in students the skills and abilities of independent research along with research and teaching activities; provides an in-depth study of the methodological, clinical and medical-social foundations of the scientific speciality 3.1.7 'Dental Medicine'; improves knowledge in the field of history and philosophy of science, foreign language, oriented towards professional activities.
